Chairperson - Dr. Miriam Haran
Dr. Haran, the chairperson of Weitz Center is Head of the M.B.A. Environmental Management Program at Ono Academic College in Israel. She has just finished serving 9 years on the board of Israel Chemicals Ltd (ICL) – Israel’s largest chemical company. She serves on M.A.I board – a major Israeli recycling company of electrical and electronic equipment waste (WEEE). Dr. Haran earned her Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts USA, and a B. Sc. in Chemistry from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She joined the Israel Ministry of the Environment in 1996 and was appointed as Director General of the Israel Ministry of Environmental Protection in 2003. Dr. Haran has served in numerous scientific, corporate, and public organizations. She was among other things Chair of the Israel Consumer Council, Board member of The Environmental Services Company Ltd. (ESC), Board member of BGN Technologies Ltd., and Member of the General Assembly of the Jerusalem Institute for Israel Studies. Dr. Haran was also a Senior Researcher at A.Y. Laboratories, Researcher at Unikoor Biotechnologies, Researcher and Senior Lecturer at the Hebrew University, Researcher at Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey, USA and Executive Assistant to the Director of The Center for Applied Studies of the Environment at Hunter College (CUNY), New York, USA.
Belek, Shafrira
Ms. Shafrira Belek is a Director in several boards of directors, among them are the Bloomfield Science Museum Jerusalem and The University Veterinary Hospital. Ms. Belek was the Director of the Office for University Companies and Non-Profit Organizations of the Hebrew University. Additionally, Ms. Belek served as a Special adviser to the President of the Hebrew University. Ms. Belek holds a BA in Statistics and Business Administration from the Hebrew University, and Courses and advanced training in Management.
Dishon, Adi
Ms Dishon has managed the Weitz Center since 2012. Prior to that Ms. Dishon Founded EcoTraders, the first Israeli company that specialized in Carbon Trading and Climate solutions way back in 2003. Since then Adi is one of Israel’s professional authorities on Climate issues. Ms. Dishon has over 20 years experience in promoting Sustainable Development. She began her career in 2000, at the Industries Division in the Ministry of Environmental Protection. Under her management, the Weitz Center implemented the first pilot project in Israel in the field of resource efficiency, funded by the EU. Adi led the Weitz Center in its winning tender bid for the establishment and operation of the Israel Resource Efficiency Center, which she directs presently.
She holds a master’s degree in technology management and a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, both from the Hebrew University.
Mina, Yitzhak
Adv. Yitzhak Mina, is a lawyer and notary, he serves as a director in several boards of directors. Adv. Mina is a reserve military judge in the military court for Appeals (Rank – Colonel). Adv. Mina was engaged as a mediator in the Israeli Supreme Court and his areas of expertise include estate law, testaments, long term power of attorney; real estate transactions including representing entrepreneurs, companies, trademarks, medical negligence, and commercial litigation. Adv. Yitzhak Mina hold a LLB from The Hebrew University.
Fox, Shlomo
Mr Shlomo Fox has had a long association with the Weitz Center and with its founder, Professor Raanan Weitz, working there in research, lecturing, and participating in the Center’s planning projects overseas. Mr Fox worked for many years as an economist at the Jewish Agency, first in the Rural Settlement Department, later in the Office of Jewish Agency Companies. Today Mr Fox is a board member of the Masa Israel company and of the Jerusalem Lev Ha’ir Community Administration. He chairs the audit committee of the Jerusalem Opera. Mr. Fox holds an M.Phil in Development Economics from the University of Sussex, England, and a BA in Economics from the University of Oxford, England.
